Each Space Saving System has two separate functions: one for living (“daytime” functionality) and one for sleeping (“nighttime” functionality). All beds are supported by a steel-framed slatted sprung base.

The slatted bases that all of the beds rest on are constructed using a durable tubular reinforced steel frame painted with epoxy powder. The slats themselves are made of quality beech wood, and sprung to function as a shock absorber and support for the mattress, much like a box-spring. The slats are fixed to the frame using nylon/rubber gaskets which also serve to soundproof the movement of the slats. Unlike traditional Murphy beds and other platform beds, the slatted base allows air circulation under the mattress, which ultimately prolongs the life of the mattress.
