The character of Corto Maltese comes from the creativity of Hugo Pratt, at the peak of his artistic maturity undisputed master of both Italian and international comics.  The debut of this attractive character with the spirit of a wandering adventurer who wears a captain's uniform, an earring in his left ear and a cap, takes place on the pages of "A Ballad of the Salty Sea."  in 1967, this tale gave rise to a new concept of comic strips with much more complex and profound vignettes, themes and characters.
